The Language Placement Exam will either determine that you have satisfied Trinity’s second language requirement or recommend an appropriate language course for you. If you have not satisfied the requirement and wish to study a language other than the one you took in high school, you need to take two semesters (usually 101 and 102) of that language to satisfy it. If you continue with your high school language, you will need to complete 201. Though you are not required to take a language course in your first semester, you are strongly encouraged to complete the language requirement within your first two years at Trinity.

Language exams offered: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish.

Students wishing to count Advanced Placement credit in French, German, Italian or Spanish may not enroll for credit in beginning or intermediate levels of that language (101 through 202). For AP information you can visit
